Swim Meet Fees vary from $8 - $20 per meet. This includes individual entries and the swimmers surcharge.

Once your child is ready to compete, he or she will need to purchase a team suit and a team cap. Caps are optional for boys; girls need to wear caps during swim meets and practices. Coaches may decide when swimmers are ready to compete.

Swimmers will be grouped by age and skill levels. Swim meets are an important part of swimming and provide an opportunity for parents and swimmers to see progression. Parents will be given a schedule, or e-mailed as meets come up, of what meets they will be able to attend. The swimmers may choose events they would like to participate in, or the coaches will choose them. However, we believe in trying everything once! We may suggest events that the swimmer may not have chosen.

Education:

Swimmer and parent education is important. Please don’t be concerned if you have never been around competitive swimming. The coaches, other swimmers and parents will help you understand the terminology and the rules of the sport. You should also check out the USA Swimming website, www.usaswimming.org and the Utah Swimming site, www.swimutah.com, for more information.

Parent meetings are held once a month, usually on the first Wednesday of the month, but at the digression of the swim coach. Check the team website to keep up on updates. If the parent misses a meeting, it is up to the parent’s responsibility to contact the coach and find out what was discussed at the meeting.

Parent Involvement:

Swimming is a sport requiring parental involvement. Each year CCAT hosts two USA sanctioned meets. Over 350 swimmers participate in these two meets. The money earned from these meets is used for equipment replacement, technical needs, and social activities for the CCAT program. CCAT is an organization that promotes family involvement. Parent volunteers need to help with all aspects of our meets including snack bar, technical support (timing, computer, runners etc.), and equipment set-up/take-down. In addition, parent volunteers will be contacted to help with CCAT fundraisers and social activities. It is expected that parents should help volunteer with our meets and activities.

We feel that parental support is a vital part of a successful swim team. Parents may need to help volunteer at meets with timing and other various volunteer positions.   Input from our parents is always welcomed and encouraged.
